Our intimate new series opens with a programme featuring works for the Classical orchestra by the greats: Bach and Haydn, Mozart and Beethoven. Haydn’s “Fire” symphony is mirrored in the pyrotechnics of Bach’s Concerto for Two Violins, performed by the HPO’s veteran concertmaster Lance Elbeck and our new Principal 2nd violin, the talented Bethany Bergman. James Sommerville also conducts the brilliant and light-hearted “Impresario” Overture and Beethoven’s Symphony #1.
