Chinese Choir celebrates Canada Day
The Hamilton-Halton Chinese Choir has once again been invited to take part in Canada Day Celebrations July 1 at Spencer Smith Park. The choir will be presenting an hour’s program of music and dance reflective of the various provinces of China that are diverse within this country’s greater Asian heritage. HHCC is directed by Alice Liu, assisted by pianist/music educator Kamara Hennessey. Many members are retired and semi-retired professionals from varied disciplines brought together by their love of music and desire to preserve their culture. The choir will be celebrating its 25th year as an amateur vocal ensemble. New members are welcome to join; an audition session is not required. Weekly practices are held in the Sanctuary of East Plains United Church, Aldershot, on Friday evenings from
7:30 pm to 9:30 pm. If you are a non-Asian who enjoys the challenge of learning a foreign language through music, HHCC will give you the opportunity to experience singing in Mandarin or Cantonese. Songs in English are also in the repertoire. For further information on choir activities contact Alice Liu at 905-639-4503 or alice.liu@sympatico.ca.
