PAB Staff settles in

Heather Ableson, left, and Caroline Wallace welcome visitors to our new office.

PAB staff members have successfully settled into their new office space at 2114 Lakeshore Road. “We are enjoying lots more space and visibility close to Burlington’s beautiful waterfront,”says Caroline Wallace, our Executive Director. “I hope our members will feel free to stop by and visit us.” Caroline, who joined the PAB staff in January, has been involved in many organizations in Burlington, ranging from education to recreation. For two years she was a coordinator for PAB’s premier events Second to None and French Quarter Festival. A graduate of the University of Guelph, with a BA in Sociology, Caroline’s work experience includes sales, customer relations and real estate. Caroline has lived in Burlington for the last 20 years and shares her home and enthusiasm for our community with her husband Mike and daughters, Lindsay and Ashley. Heather Ableson, part time staff person for more than four years has assumed a full-time position. Her duties include managing our ever-expanding website, membership services, event planning for Downtown Dining & French Quarter Festival as well as finding new and creative ways to promote PAB.
The new office space has been made possible by the generosity of Carriage Gate Homes, one of PAB’s newest corporate partners.

Theatre Burlington Combines Comedy and Drama

Theatre Burlington enters its 56th season with its tried and true format of comedy and drama. Season ticket orders for the upcoming season at the Drama Centre at Central Park are already well under way and may be submitted on line at www.theatreburlington.on.ca or by calling 905-637-1728. Murder at the Howard Johnson’s by Ron Clark and Sam Bobrick
is a comedy with a strong dose of suspense and dollops of absurd farce. Our opening production runs Sept. 19-20, 25-26-27 and Oct. 2-3-4.

Moving towards Christmas we have a play for the children by Vic Hyde, our own local playwright. His special version of Cinderella runs Nov. 28-29-30, and Dec. 4-5-6 with many
daytime and evening performances. The play in the New Year is a compelling drama, Copenhagen by Michael Frayn. This is a tense drama that takes us back to 1941 when Nazi Germany was developing weapons of mass destruction. The story is about friendships that are tested in the horror of war. Jan. 30-31, Feb. 5-6-7-8, 12-13-14.

Finally in the spring we have an exceedingly funny play about – playgoers! A Night in the Theatre by Lawrence Casler will have you roaring with laughter at the antics of these wannabe theatre people. April 17-18, 23-24-25, 30, May 1-2.
