The Top Hats are coming to town!
The Top Hat Marching Orchestra will once again be delighting crowds this holiday season. Donning their antlers, ribbons and bows, they will be strutting their stuff and spreading Christmas cheer. The band will be taking part in Christmas parades in Oakville, Toronto, Grimsby, Niagara-on-the-Lake and Campbellville. This year, in fact, they’ve been given the honour of kicking off the Toronto parade as the first marching band! In addition, they will be performing a concert on December 15 at Burlington’s Central High School. The Top Hats are not the most orderly bunch and they may not always be in perfect step, but there’s no doubt they know how to have fun with their free spirit and enthusiastic style! Founded by Bob Webb, the Top Hat Marching Orchestra has been entertaining audiences since 1982. It has grown to more than 50 members and, led by Musical Director Bryce Walker, boast an accomplished repertoire. The Top Hats are always looking for new members. For more information about our performances and membership, visit us at www.tophats.org.
Theatre Burlington to Perform for Children
After seeing Theatre Burlington’s production of Crimes of the Heart, The Spectator’s Gary Smith wrote: “The bar has been set, and it’s very high”. This bodes very well for live theatre in our area. Auditions have taken place for our next production, a play for children, at the Drama Centre in Central Park. The Emperor’s New Clothes by Karen Boettcher-Tate, and
directed by Tamara Kamermans. Performances are 45 - 60 minutes each. General admission tickets are $8 and available by calling 905 637-1728.
