Burlington’s own Tartan Terrors have released their third DVD, Behind Bars - Live from Jim Thorpe! It features Celtic music, dance and comedy in a live recording of their annual St. Patrick’s Day performance in the Pennsylvania town of Jim Thorpe; best known for hanging five of the famous Irish immigrant gang, the Molly Maguires.
As well as the two hour show, the DVD features interviews, a tour of the Carbon County Jail that housed the Mollies, parade footage and bloopers from the show!
“Performing at the Mauch Chunk Opera House in Jim Thorpe is one of our favourite shows each year,” says Ellen Irmisch. “They are always so welcoming and this small town comes alive to celebrate everything Celtic the weekend around St. Patrick’s Day. In fact we will be heading back for our fifth year in 2009.
While releasing the new DVD the Tartan Terrors have been working on a new CD titled Awakening which they plan to release by Christmas.
Both the DVD and CD feature the following Tartan Terrors: Ellen Irmisch, Ian Irmisch, Blake Braswell, Peter J. Corneil, Kerry Jackson, Todd Loughry, Sean Mc Keown, Tone Valcic and Meg Wozniak.

Theatre Burlington Plans Two Productions
Theatre Burlington again plans a play for children during the Christmas season. Vic Hyde, our own local playwright, will present his special musical version of Cinderella.
The one hour show will run on December 4, 5 and 6, with many daytime and evening performances. Sondra Learn is the director and the popular Scott Bloxom is looking after the choreography as well as acting in the show.
Our play in the New Year is a compelling drama, Copenhagen by Michael Frayn, running on January 30 and 31, then on February 5-6-7-8, 12, 13 and 14. This is a tense drama that takes us back to 1941 when Nazi Germany was developing weapons of mass destruction. The story is about friendships that are tested in the horror of war and will give you plenty to think about in the winter months.
Tickets for both shows are available by calling 905-637-1728.
